Health Care Reform Victory!

I wanted to share this amazing letter from Senator Edward Kennedy that was delivered to President Obama shortly after his passing. This is truely a historic and exciting day for the American People!

“When I thought of all the years, all the battles, and all the memories of my long public life, I felt confident in these closing days that while I will not be there when it happens, you will be the President who at long last signs into law the health care reform that is the great unfinished business of our society. For me, this cause stretched across decades; it has been disappointed, but never finally defeated. It was the cause of my life. And in the past year, the prospect of victory sustained me-and the work of achieving it summoned my energy and determination.

There will be struggles – there always have been – and they are already underway again. But as we moved forward in these months, I learned that you will not yield to calls to retreat - that you will stay with the cause until it is won. I saw your conviction that the time is now and witnessed your unwavering commitment and understanding that health care is a decisive issue for our future prosperity. But you have also reminded all of us that it concerns more than material things; that what we face is above all a moral issue; that at stake are not just the details of policy, but fundamental principles of social justice and the character of our country.

And so because of your vision and resolve, I came to believe that soon, very soon, affordable health coverage will be available to all, in an America where the state of a family’s health will never again depend on the amount of a family’s wealth. And while I will not see the victory, I was able to look forward and know that we will – yes, we will – fulfill the promise of health care in America as a right and not a privilege.”

- Senator Edward Kennedy in a letter to President Obama delivered after his passing

No on 1, Maine's Marriage Equality

I am now starting to feel better since I came home from Maine, fighting for the Marriage Equality, No on 1 campaign.
I had a horrible flu followed by a rash that made my hands and arms swollen.

But now since my hands are almost back to normal, I can type easier to give my two cents on this campaign.

This campaign, from my viewpoint, was a very-well ran campaign! I have no regrets with how the campaign was ran. I am proud to say that I was a part of the campaign for equality!

My trip would not have been made without the help and support of my sponsors, Sally Lieber and Vanessa Cooper! I very much appreciate the opportunity you gave me for this experience.

I had an amazing time although I got sick. Maine has very nice people and it is a beautiful place!
I was also in New York City for a day after the campaign ended. Thank you Omar, CJ, and Ashley for putting up with my cranky sick ass! You guys still mean the world to me and I had fun spending this experience with you!

Clueless Tea Party Marchers

It is utterly sad that people are standing up for something that they have no clue about. People need to educate themselves if we are going to have a healthy debate! Where has my country’s intelligence gone?

Santa Clara County Health Advisory Commission

A few weeks ago, I received a call from Santa Clara County Supervisor Liz Kniss' Office notifying me that I was being offered a Commissioner position on the Santa Clara County Health Advisory Commission.

Long story short. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is voting on my appointment to the Health Advisory Commission on Tuesday. I will be sworn in right before the Commission meeting on Wednesday at 6:15, in the Board of Supervisor's Chambers.

I look forward to serving on behalf of my community on this Commission and I look forward to bringing many ideas to the Commission over the next four years.
